Gail Mutoza        Silver Artisan & Metalsmith

My passion is handcrafting silver & precious metals into jewelry and interesting objects.  I design and hand fabricated one-of-a-kind unique pieces.  As a metalsmith and artist, everyday is filled with inspiration to try new techniques and experiment with new designs - forever.  Once I picked up a chasing hammer and started texturing metals, I was hooked.  When I realized that I couldn't wear what I was making (serving spoon or a salt bowl ... etc.) I refined my style and added jewelry as it is "wearable art".  The good news is I enjoy wearing my pieces as much as I enjoy making them and still make functional fun silver objects too.

I hand make each piece, fire or torch and tumble, hammer texture, then burnish and polish until its perfect to me.  I create with my hands, mind and heart.

I've studied under many artists and metalsmiths, learning craftsmanship and skills that have guided my own unique and different style.

My studio is in California's central coast.  The climate, landscape and community inspire me to create beautiful things.

My pieces are in galleries across the country.  The pictures are examples.  You can see more of my work at my website:   WWW.FINESILVERDESIGNS.COM

I do commissions of one-of-a-kind work and limited production of "unique to order" pieces.  A grouping of a consistent style can be for a family or a wedding as wedding party gifts, etc.  Designs are custom for each commission.
